It's musical tuesday and you know what that means another awesomely amazing song is ready for u to listen to. This week is one of the most infectious songs i have ever heard. I heard this song once and was singing along like i actually knew the words. It's fun and another favorite from Glee. Enjoy.
I wanted to finish the first five books before this review but since i've only just began 4 i think you all deserve something.
This is the High Heels Mystery Series by Gemma Halliday. The 1st book is called Spying in High Heels the story follows child shoe designer Maddie Springer. She has an obsession with shoes and a boyfriend that has just disappeared. With the help of her best friend Dana (the actress/ aerobics instructer) Maddie set out to hunt down her boyfriend richard before the cop on the case, Jack Ramirez, finds him first. It definitely left me laughing the whole way through. The witty commentary. The inappropriate jokes and the escapades Maddie conjures up to get her way are down right hard to resist.
Book 2 is called Killer in High Heels after a call from her absentee father Maddie is on the case again to Las Vagas with Dana and Marco to tag along. But in usual Maddie fashion when searching for her father she ends up stumbling onto the murder of a drag queen and a mob smuggling scheme of fake shoes. She also falls right in the middle of another of Ramirez's cases. Leaving him frustrated that she hasn't learned to listen and they haven't had a chance alone since the last case they solved. Finding her dad having another freakout by her mom and a completely absurd ending. It was just as funny as the original.
The 3rd book was called Undercover in High heels. Maddie ruined yet another of Ramirez's cases by playing the part of the jealous 'sort of girlfriend.' Ramirez is ultimately demoted to glorified security for an actress on the set of Maddie and Dana's new favorite show Magnolia Lane. To get back in Ramirez's good graces Maddie and Dana come up with a way to solve the case and meet the cast. Dana as an extra on the show and Maddie calling in a few favors and becoming an assistant in wardrobe. Yet again with Maddie fashion she stumbles into another murder when Mia's (Ramirez's case) stand in is found dead in Mia's trailer. This leads Maddie and Dana to interviewing castmembers and running to the infamous Jasmine from book 1 (who is now pornstar extraordinaire) all the while the first mistake she made being the jealous 'not quite' girlfriend was coming back to kill her. In the end Maddie ends up with 2 murderers on her tail and a really upset 'bad cop' that she was trying to avoid before another lecture. This one was just as disarmingly funny and i couldn't stop reading it or stop laughing. So far these first three books have given me high hopes for the last three. The forth one i have just started and am already laughing. Rating: 5 out of 5 stars for each of them. Keep you posted for next week.
Today is not only another installment of Musical tuesday but it also is that special day of the year called Valentine's day. So in celebration of the only day of love i found a song that reminds all those long lasting couples that you should try to keep your love fresh and remember those bubbly first few dates you have with your significant other and to new couples keep fresh and fun as long as you can and never take it for granted. I know i'm such a mush on this day being that i have one of the WORLD'S best boyfriends and have for several valentine days now. Never let love dwindle and always try to fall in love again ;-)
So this is the time to tell all of you what is going on in the crazy world of mine. Hidden (Second book in the Secret's Trilogy) is coming out just great stretching out some of the last issues with it and i can't wait to see what you all think about it. If you want to look at a synopsis for it go to the Secret's trilogy tab and it's already up!
Puzzled (book 2 in the Rena Files) is also culminating to an end. So they well be up by their prospected arrival dates.
I hope you will check out the first books before the 2nd ones are out and i have been contemplating a give away of the first book in each series when the second one is out. I will fill you on more of the details when the publication dates gets closer.
Also i found a new book to review now that i am done with Steig Larson. Two words. Lucy Kevin. She's great if you haven't read any of her books. She's an Indie writer and she is absolutely hilarious. Her characters and the situations they get themselves always cause for a laugh.Look forward to a great review for the Wedding Gift by Lucy Kevin.
So this is the final installment of the the Girl with the dragon tattoo installment. The girl who kicked the hornet's nest in my opinion dragged. It had a decent last 200 pages but it didn't have the intensity as the first two books. The second book is still my favorite. However this one did appropriately tie up all the loose ends of all three books. It had me questioning for a moment if Neiderman would make an appearance but towards the end i wasn't disappointed. I don't know if the characters were as well represented in this book due to the whole conspiricy and new perspectives i felt like stories about Mikael and Lisbeth were greatly lacking. Their stories were their but it wasn't as greatly represented as in the previous books. Overall the series gets a four out of five.
This book gets a 3.
The Girl who played with fire was a 5.
The girl with the dragon tattoo was a 4.
Hope this helps you guys.
Last week i wrote about the Girl with the Dragon Tattoo and this week i sped through the Girl who Played with Fire and am currently working on the last one for next week.
The second book is by far my favorite where the first one was slow this one got straight to the point i had spent a whole getting through the slow parts of the first one but the second i couldn't put down not only was the plot intricate and fall open only when he wanted it to fall open. The characters just seem to get better and better as you went on.
Lisbeth Salander is accussed of a triple murder and of course her old friend Mickael Blomkvist is there to say she is innocent despite not seeing her for the last 2 years. Although 2 of his friends were murdered he would never suspect that Lisbeth did it but the police don't believe it and media circus follows the police crusade to locate the elusive Lisbeth. Lisbeth's friend and sometimes lover Mimmi, gets entangled in the web when she moves into Lisbeth's old apartment after Lisbeth moves out to something grander with her newly inherited money not leaving a return address of course. Crazy headlines, sexist cops, conspiracy, and family drama all culminate at the ending when you literally are unable to put down the book its that good but i don't want to ruin it for the people that haven't read yet.
My opinion this was the best book in the trilogy and it was absolutely perfectly executed. Loved the story the plot twist and turns and the finale.
Hope you Enjoy,
