Book Review Thursday- Confessions?

This is the final book in the Hollywood Scandals series, Hollywood Confessions. It takes us back to the new girl, yet not so new girl, Allie Quick (remember her from book 4 in the high heels mysteries). Allie wants to get her break she doesn't want to work for the Informer any longer she wants to be serious and work at the LA Times but the blond and big boobs combo is working against her or maybe it's the too tiny clothes and inordinate amounts of pink. Either way shes still at the informer waiting for her big break and when the chance steal a case from Tina comes along who is she to shy away from the story. Allie ends up interviewing multiple reality stars, getting into cahoots with a Little Love bachelor and even starting to resolve her rivalry with Tina. The biggest thing Allie has to get over though is that little crush she never quite recovered from especially when the only girl she has ever truly been jealous of walks through the door. (major spoiler ***it's Maddie!!***)
In all Allie realizes that its not the paper that makes the reporter but the reporting they report. Allie sticks to her guns at the Informer with her new/old boytoy because she got the guy!
I was so happy to finally get (***spoiler again Felix Dunn***) love because hey he deserved to be happy in the other books so it was a long time coming. Maybe it was the pink apartment or the cat or the bug but Allie was so not likable. The book still entertaining but not a 5. I'll give it a 4.
The whole series gets a 5 naturally it was entertaining like everything else Halliday writes.

Musical Thursday Snap!

Another book review and i have to say its time for the 2nd book in the Gemma Halliday series. Hollywood Secrets. This one follows the Informer's photographer Cameron Dakota and her mistakenly intermingling herself into Trace Brody's, Hollywood's it boy, problems that come in the shape of 2 burly guys with guns. With a little help from Allie, Tina, an entertaining cameo from Mrs. Rosenblatt, and a visit to the infamous Victoria Club. This story goes so well like the other books. Cam gets her photo, solves the case, solves a coldcase too with a little help from her informer friends and of course Trace but most importantly Cam gets her man in a predictable but still rooting for Cam in the end way.
This gets a five because it really was a lot more intricate than i could explain but is full of laughs and awkward tension that you love to read about.

Book Review Thursday!

Hey guys,
Back for the next book review thursday already? Today's is Hollywood Scandels by Gemma Halliday. I have previously written about Gemma Halliday's other series High Heels Mysteries that left me with high expectations for this series. This first book did not disappoint.
The book starts out with Tina Bender, gossip columnist for the Informer (remember that?) and her boss Felix Dunn (Yeah, that Felix!) she gets a death threat so Felix puts her on desk duty and stuck with a rent a goon named Cal.
Tina doesn't want to take this sitting down though. She is going to find this mystery caller before they find her. Some corskscrews lead Tina and Cal back and forth between a teen actress, a movie star, a rock star in rehab, and a director being arraigned on child porn charges. But when Tina's eldery neighbor ends up dead in her condo this mystery caller is getting too close to home and Tina is more intent then ever to find the killer.
Like the high heels mysteries, there was always a witty comment waiting to make you laugh. Tina was funny, off key, the story had its share of oddness from senile old ladys to breaking the law in disneyland. Gemma Halliday never forgets the romance though. Making me perfectly happy to see Tina end up with Maninblack72.

Overall this was a 5 perfect book and i can't wait to tell you all about the other books in the series.

It's musical tuesday and its time for another song i can't stop listening to. Today's choice is Andy Grammer's Fine by Me. It is such a catchy, happy song if you don't love it you might want to see a doctor. ;-)

On top of actually doing a book review thursday in a timely fashion i have been busy with everything else too. The final cover for Hidden is finished and so is the Cover for the final Secrets book, Revelations. I have to admit I really love the covers and i can't wait for you to read the books that go along with it.
Recently, i've had all my energy on working on Revelations which i think will be a great conclusion to the series. I hope you will all like it when it comes out later this year. I'm also finishing another story that is completely separate from anything Rena Files or Secrets related. It's different from everything i wrote and since i'm wrapping it up now i expect a early to mid 2013 release. *** crosses fingers*** Once it's finished maybe i'll even dish a little more about it ;-)

Book Review thursday

4/5/2012

Hey guys.
i'm back again for another edition of Book Review thursday. This week? Bewitched by Jayde Scott. If you haven't read my past blogs i have reviews of the first three ancient legends books that come before this book.
Back to Bewitched. This one is told by Amber again. The vampire slash necromancer. The story dragged a little having Amber attend Cass's 18th birthday and become possessed with insatiable blood hunger, which she shouldn't have. After returning to Scotland with Aiden, her mate, she has a vision of Angel, her mortal friend she met when she was kidnapped by the Shadows. Simultaneously Aiden is called back to the Lore Court to help Layla maintain her rule.
After some questioning teleporting by Aiden, Amber starts to get suspicious about his whereabouts. Uncharacteristic thoughts about trusting Aiden enter her mind and even more uncharacteristic romantic  thoughts about Devon the shadow Amber decided to confide in about everything she learned about Angel's disappearance and her odd bloodlust. All these issues surrounding Layla seem to mesh with Angel's appearance and worst yet a prophecy is being fulfilled and the war between the lore court, shadows, and vampires is about to begin.

I greatly enjoyed Jayde Scott's other books in this series. This was as usual funny and witty. Amber is entertaining but there wasn't much to this plot. It was mostly Amber asking a million questions, her seeing some other paranormals (ghosts, werewolves) and a lot of running from scary things. They way it ended however leaves me expecting a lot from the next book. When looking back at the previous books. I know i won't be disappointed.
Overall this book gets a 3 but i know it will get better.
