Book Review Thursday- Confessions?

This is the final book in the Hollywood Scandals series, Hollywood Confessions. It takes us back to the new girl, yet not so new girl, Allie Quick (remember her from book 4 in the high heels mysteries). Allie wants to get her break she doesn't want to work for the Informer any longer she wants to be serious and work at the LA Times but the blond and big boobs combo is working against her or maybe it's the too tiny clothes and inordinate amounts of pink. Either way shes still at the informer waiting for her big break and when the chance steal a case from Tina comes along who is she to shy away from the story. Allie ends up interviewing multiple reality stars, getting into cahoots with a Little Love bachelor and even starting to resolve her rivalry with Tina. The biggest thing Allie has to get over though is that little crush she never quite recovered from especially when the only girl she has ever truly been jealous of walks through the door. (major spoiler ***it's Maddie!!***)
In all Allie realizes that its not the paper that makes the reporter but the reporting they report. Allie sticks to her guns at the Informer with her new/old boytoy because she got the guy!
I was so happy to finally get (***spoiler again Felix Dunn***) love because hey he deserved to be happy in the other books so it was a long time coming. Maybe it was the pink apartment or the cat or the bug but Allie was so not likable. The book still entertaining but not a 5. I'll give it a 4.
The whole series gets a 5 naturally it was entertaining like everything else Halliday writes.

Another book review and i have to say its time for the 2nd book in the Gemma Halliday series. Hollywood Secrets. This one follows the Informer's photographer Cameron Dakota and her mistakenly intermingling herself into Trace Brody's, Hollywood's it boy, problems that come in the shape of 2 burly guys with guns. With a little help from Allie, Tina, an entertaining cameo from Mrs. Rosenblatt, and a visit to the infamous Victoria Club. This story goes so well like the other books. Cam gets her photo, solves the case, solves a coldcase too with a little help from her informer friends and of course Trace but most importantly Cam gets her man in a predictable but still rooting for Cam in the end way.
This gets a five because it really was a lot more intricate than i could explain but is full of laughs and awkward tension that you love to read about.

Book Review Thursday is Back!

So today's book review thursday we are going to do the some more of the high heels mysteries by Gemma Halliday. Book 4 is called Alibi in High Heels and Book 5 is called Mayham in High heels.
Let's start with the 4th one. Maddie is living her dream Jon Luc a famous designer in fashion week has asked Maddie to showcase her line of shoes in his fashion week show in Paris. But in usual Maddie fashion something always goes wrong. Right before Paris Maddie ends up with a broken leg, crutches, doctor's order to not wear heels, and her mother and Mrs. R. heading to Paris with her.
Only problem the second day Maddie is in Paris a model ends up dead on the runway with none other than Maddie's stiletto sticking out of her neck. Maddie's MO. The police are all too aware of this too and begin questioning Maddie as their prime suspect. The person to come to Maddie's rescue when Ramirez is not around. Felix Dunn, the sleazy reporter from LA. They start out on yet another mystery together that brings Dana and Ramirez to Paris to help. When Ramirez insists Maddie stay out of it in usual fashion she ignores him and ends up in London and Milan hunting down the killer but every clue she finds leads her back to Felix. Is it really him or is she ignoring that's it him bc she might just remember their last kiss a little too well.
Probably my favorite in the series the ending was amazing!!! 5 out of 5.
The 5th book starts out with Maddie in the midst of planning for her wedding. I told you it was a relly good ending! Anyways right before her final cake tasting Maddie and Ramirez find their wedding planner dead in their cake. Now that Ramirez is the lead detective on the case and they are only days away from the wedding. Maddie has to balance solving a mystery and planning her special day. Maddie ends up forgetting half the things she needs to do, ends up running into Felix a little too much for Ramirez's liking and of course ends head to head with yet another killer. This book was hilarious especially when Maddie's mother and Ramirez's mother kept adding little things, clothing, food, another 100 or so to the guest list. All in all it ended with a funny book, a typical great ending, and more anticipation for the next book. I think i'm just bias now because i loved every single one of these books. 5 out of 5.
Next week look for the last installment of the High Heels Mys

Another Belated Book Review Thursday

I wanted to finish the first five books before this review but since i've only just began 4 i think you all deserve something.
This is the High Heels Mystery Series by Gemma Halliday. The 1st book is called Spying in High Heels the story follows child shoe designer Maddie Springer. She has an obsession with shoes and a boyfriend that has just disappeared. With the help of her best friend Dana (the actress/ aerobics instructer) Maddie set out to hunt down her boyfriend richard before the cop on the case, Jack Ramirez, finds him first. It definitely left me laughing the whole way through. The witty commentary. The inappropriate jokes and the escapades Maddie conjures up to get her way are down right hard to resist.
Book 2 is called Killer in High Heels after a call from her absentee father Maddie is on the case again to Las Vagas with Dana and Marco to tag along. But in usual Maddie fashion when searching for her father she ends up stumbling onto the murder of a drag queen and a mob smuggling scheme of fake shoes. She also falls right in the middle of another of Ramirez's cases. Leaving him frustrated that she hasn't learned to listen and they haven't had a chance alone since the last case they solved. Finding her dad having another freakout by her mom and a completely absurd ending. It was just as funny as the original.
The 3rd book was called Undercover in High heels. Maddie ruined yet another of Ramirez's cases by playing the part of the jealous 'sort of girlfriend.' Ramirez is ultimately demoted to glorified security for an actress on the set of Maddie and Dana's new favorite show Magnolia Lane. To get back in Ramirez's good graces Maddie and Dana come up with a way to solve the case and meet the cast. Dana as an extra on the show and Maddie calling in a few favors and becoming an assistant in wardrobe. Yet again with Maddie fashion she stumbles into another murder when Mia's (Ramirez's case) stand in is found dead in Mia's trailer. This leads Maddie and Dana to interviewing castmembers and running to the infamous Jasmine from book 1 (who is now pornstar extraordinaire) all the while the first mistake she made being the jealous 'not quite' girlfriend was coming back to kill her. In the end Maddie ends up with 2 murderers on her tail and a really upset 'bad cop' that she was trying to avoid before another lecture. This one was just as disarmingly funny and i couldn't stop reading it or stop laughing.  So far these first three books have given me high hopes for the last three. The forth one i have just started and am already laughing. Rating: 5 out of 5 stars for each of them. Keep you posted for next week.
