Book Review Thursdays - Gabrielle by Lucy Kevin

I was actually really surprised by this book by Lucy Kevin. I have read all the other Lucy Kevin books like Seattle Girl and honestly all her books besides Gabrielle are light and simply funny, bubbly romances.
This book was a lot deeper, a lot darker, and i lot more intriguing. This book had me very curious after every page.
The book is about a girl named gabrielle and the family curse that affects all the women in her family once they turn 18. Gabrielle must decide whether to heed the curse or go to the boy she thought she fell for before she found out about the curse. Gabrielle eventually is torn between two guys the boy from school and the guy her grandmother approves of, the one she could never marry. Don't look for any resolution of that problem in this book. Sorry!
The ending, that left me wanting the second book right away needs it's own paragraph I was left pretty empty and with a lot of unanswered questions. Frankly, it left me hanging and not in the good way i usually feel at the end of a book i'm expecting a sequel to. It was a mild resolution that left me going "but that can't be the ending what about the love triangle? What about the curse?" I wanted more pages and believe me i will be reading the next one whenever she decides to publish it. I have so many questions i have to have answered and i guess that leaves me waiting for the second book.
I'd love your opinion guys if you read this too.
Peace and Love,
LL

Review Thursday

Honestly, I'm not finished reading the book I'm supposed to be reviewing today (only 90 pages to go) so I'll just tell you about something else I read recently. I'm a very dedicated reader and i have to admit if you haven't read this series you don't know how excellent and skilled a writer could be.
Kim Harrison's Hollows series is probably one of the best series I have ever read. So far there are 9 books in the series and I read them all this year. I finished the last one around June and I'm slowly dying waiting for the 10th one to come out in February.
The series is about a witch named Rachel Morgan, that gets into more trouble than you could possibly imagine. Between angry bosses, werewolves, manipulative elves, a vampire roommate, and a conniving ex boyfriend. Rachel is always running or fighting someone usually with the help of Living vampire Ivy, and always good for a laugh, Jinx (pixy). Rachel is one of the most interesting and well developed characters i've read about in a long time. The books are all fast paced and there is rarely a dull moment in all 9 books. The endings almost always leave you begging for more too.
I highly suggest everyone check it out. The first book is called Dead Witch Walking.
